From October 20th to 24th, 2025, the China Machinery Industry Safety and Health Association held the "Safety Management Capacity Enhancement Training Course and Safety Management Experience and Technology Exchange and Sharing Conference" at the Swiss Hotel in Hefei, Anhui Province. As a leading company in the ladder industry and a core force in formulating safety standards, Guangdong Wright Housewares Co., Ltd. was invited to attend the event.

On October 23rd, during the technical exchange session, Yang Yi, the technical director of Wright, with the core theme of "Safe Use of ladders, Standards First", shared Wright technological accumulation, standard construction achievements and practical experience in the field of ladder safety. Focusing on the pain points of ladder safety, he combined authoritative data at home and abroad to reveal the current situation of the industry, providing important references for the safety management work of manufacturing enterprises in the machinery, electronics and other industries across the country.

As the leading drafter of the national mandatory standard "Safety Requirements for Portable Metal Ladders" (GB 12142), Courtyard has been deeply involved in the improvement of the standard and has promoted several key adjustments: expanding the coverage of the standard and adding mainstream market categories such as telescopic ladders and hinged ladders; Increase the rated load from 90kg to 100kg to meet the weight gain of Chinese adults and the weight requirements of handheld tools. The step spacing has been adjusted to 230-308mm, referring to the standards of Europe, America and Australia and ensuring the safety of the elderly and children. The width outside the ladder is designed with a brand-new calculation formula, breaking the traditional structural limitations. New performance requirements and test methods for telescopic ladders and hinge ladders have been added. Redundant tests have been deleted, and verification under actual working conditions has been strengthened.

In response to the highly controversial issue of "handrail height" during the standard revision, Courtyard, in collaboration with the Recall Center and the China National Institute of Standardization, conducted a "Ladder Human Factor Safety and Mechanical Safety Research". Through human center of gravity experiments and motion capture data, it was concluded that the optimal range for handrail height is 598.24mm to 708mm. Although the standard ultimately sets the lower limit of the handrail height at 450mm, Courtyard by Marriott insists on designing and selling products in accordance with a higher standard of ≥600mm, fulfilling its responsibility of leading safety.

This exchange fully demonstrated Courtyard's leading role in the field of ladder safety, and its standard practices and technical experience were highly recognized by the attending representatives.
